ISDE (High Institute of Law and Economics) is once again at the top of the Law category in the 2012/2013 ranking that Spanish newspaper EL MUNDO performs every year. Indeed, this is ISDE’s ninth consecutive year at the top of the list.

El MUNDO publishes the findings of the study after carrying out a thorough analysis of more than 1,000 masters programmes, which are assessed by 500 professionals, including educational experts, companies and alumni. The assessment evaluates the 26 requirements that every masters programme should meet, which include the admissions tests for the selection of students, the prestige of the professoriate, the academic curriculum, practical work experience, the job bank, the graduate recruitment rate, and the success rate or honourable mentions awarded by national and international bodies, among others.

This recent recognition is in addition to another granted to ISDE in December last, when the prestigious Financial Times newspaper published its report on Global Legal Education. The report in question analyses the world market of law postgraduate courses, and specifically, the LL.M. or Master of Laws. The study, which assessed more than 300 Law programmes offered by schools in 18 countries around the world, not only recognised ISDE’s track record, but also its commitment to helping students to complete quality studies with the assistance of scholarship programmes.

Commenting on the rankings, the chairman of ISDE, Mr Jorge Pintó Sala, said that “it gives ISDE great satisfaction to receive this recognition because it strengthens our belief that rigorous work always pays off sooner or later and is recognised by society.” He also added that “ISDE’s success is due above all to the law firms, universities and professors who, together with the ISDE team, make the fundamental objectives of the institution a reality”.

The EL MUNDO ranking stresses the importance of postgraduate training, which it describes as “a weapon against unemployment”. According to the newspaper, “only 7.6% of graduates with a masters qualification are unemployed”. Furthermore, the study also points out that “good academic qualifications are essential when forging a brilliant career for oneself”. With this objective in mind, ISDE offers more than 20 masters programmes which seek to achieve excellence in the training of its students and contribute to the professional development of all of them.
